Awareness prog on ill-effects of alcohol, drugs, tobacco held

PORT BLAIR, MARCH 20: The District Administration from its District Health Society, South Andaman (National Health Mission) under the aegis of ANIIDCO has conducted an awareness programme on “hazards of addiction of Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs” through Andaman Sai Seva Samiti, an NGO at ANCOL College recently. Rupa Ray, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The chief guest informed that since the addiction of Tobacco and Alcohol is the major concern of these Islands the Lt. Governor has imposed the ban on Tobacco and also taken various steps to reduce the consumption of alcohol. She appeal the youths to focus on their career and indulge in sports and cultural activities to keep them away from the addiction.
Dr. SK Kattpalia (Obst. & Gynae) HoD, ANIMS and Marya Sheel, Counselor for De-addiction gave presentation on various aspects of addiction and de-addiction through power point presentation to the students of ANCOL.
Earlier, I. B. Yadav, Representative of ASSS (Ex-DFO) welcomed the chief guest, Officials, resource persons and students. Altogether 120 students of ANCOL, and Lecturers were present in the programme.
