PORT BLAIR, FEB 8: Shortage of boats and non-availability of tickets has been a big problem for travelers who are looking to go island hopping. Tourists are returning from CSCs disappointed because of non-availability of tickets to Havelock & Neil islands. The tickets that are issued at the CSCs are sold out for the next 2 – days within half an hour of the booking widow opening. Tourists are unhappy and are facing a lot of trouble to getting tickets to go to their dream destinations.
There are more than 2000 tourists that arrive in Port Blair each day whose itinerary will more or less include Havelock and Neil Island tour. Hotels are booked in different islands, adventure activities are planned but the non – availability is a bummer to them.
“I booked all my hotels online, my travel plans were such that I get one day in Port Blair, two days in Havelock, and one day in Neil. After I arrived in Port Blair, I was not able book a ticket in government ferry as they were sold out. I had to book tickets in a private boat to go to Havelock paying three times the fare. It was unnecessary for me to go through all this trouble,” said Neelima, a tourist expressing her frustration. Attempts to reach the DSS were futile as Mr. Veeriah was unavailable in office due to health reasons.
