PORT BLAIR, SEPT 13: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Centre for Indian Trade Unions will be organising protest demonstration in front of the SE’s Office (Vidyut Bhawan), Port Blair on 14thSeptember, 2017 at 4.30 p.m. against the unprecedented power cuts and the poor condition of roads. It is pertinent to mention that the A & N Administration had neglected the Association’s warnings, a few months back, regarding the then brewing power crisis to satisfy the vested interests and allowed SPCL to bargain at the cost of public interest. The unprecedented power cuts highlight the incompetency and unpreparedness of the Administration to face such exigencies.
The Extended Executive Committee meeting of the Association held on 09th September, 2017 expressed strong protest on the unprecedented current cut and failure of the Administration to initiate steps to ease the hardship of general Public, government employees and workers. The meeting unanimously decided to organise programmes including Massive Demonstration and Processions on 14th September, 2017 as a second phase of its agitation to protest against the unprecedented current cut and poor condition of roads.
