PORT BLAIR, FEB 12: The Annual General Body meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held on 10.02.2018 at the Auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education, Port Blair. Arava Gopi Krishna, Secretary (Education and Sports) graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Addressing a gathering of large number of teachers and other dignitaries, the Secretary highlighted the importance of teachers in moulding the children to become a better human beings in future. He said, teachers have the noble opportunity of touching the lives of their students almost every day which could play a significant role in excelling them in their life in future. He further exhorted the teaching community to work hard to improve the quality of education in government schools. His appreciation on the efforts of South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association to bring various burning issues of teaching community to the notice of authorities for its settlement was a morale booster. He also expressed concern for the growing number of complaint of child abuse and urged the Association to take special efforts to create awareness among teachers regarding the POCSO Act and other developments in order to keep up the glory and dignity of the teaching profession.
Shubankar Ghosh was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. He appealed teachers for special efforts to ensure quality education and assured settlement of various pending issues in time bound manner.
Earlier R.D. Yadav, Vice President of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch who presided over the General Body meeting welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present in the meeting.
T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association briefly summed up the history of the Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association and its struggles for the last six decades. He has highlighted various important issues of teaching community which are awaiting proper amicable solutions. S.N.Mishra, Vice President of the Association has called upon the teaching community to strive for betterment of the students’ education and not to forget the duties attached with one’s rights.
