PORT BLAIR, SEPT 8: Indian Coast Guard Region (A&N) has endeavoured for cleaner beaches through various activities on regular basis under the aegis of “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan” in consonance with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s National “Swachha Bharat Abhiyan” initiative. International Coastal Cleanup day -2017 which is scheduled on 16 Sep, Indian Coast Guard is taking initiative by conducting beach cleanup drive on 16 Sep 17 from 0900-1100 at Junglighat, Marina Park , Wandoor and Carbyn’s cove beaches. The mass drive involves clean-up in order to preserve the natural beaches of these pristine Isles.
Towards this Coast Guard air Enclave is conducting awareness campaign through lecture series at educational institutes to spread maximum consciousness among future generation. First lecture of this series was conducted on 8 Sep 17 for NCC Cadets in the premises of CGAE, Port Blair. During this drive presentation, lectures and interactive sessions were conducted with an aim to generate awareness among young minds in respect to ongoing “Swachh Sagar Abhiyan” towards preservation and conservation of marine environment. A total of 40 cadets ( Including Army and Navy wing) including NCC instructors participated. NCC cadets will further disseminate this information to their friends and relatives to have maximum understanding of cleaner marine ecology.
